Highway 199-Redwood Hwy
So I happened to be in southern Oregon for work and decided to save my afternoon to drive down the Highway 199-south. I drove from Medford, OR to Crescent City, CA for 2 hours each way. The drive was a little tedious due to the windiness and occasional deer crossings but it was well worth it since I was entertained by the gorgeous scenery (and a little entertaining to see numerous hitch hikers every now and then) surrounding me. I was glad my car rental was a SUV since I usually end up with intermediate sized sedans. Of course, going by myself had its drawbacks since I had to pay attention to the road and it was difficult to photograph my mini-adventure =(. Here’s a little picture documentation of my day:
Obviously there was no chance to snap the windy roads and mountains around me so I’ll settle with this one.
Shortly after passing through this tunnel, I crossed into California.
Beautiful streams of water that looks like it’s straight from a nature book surrounded the highway.
Fifteen minutes away from Crescent City, the large Redwoods starting popping up. The highlight of my drive =]
Stopped in the Walker Road area off the highway to marvel at the bigger ones….
No timer needed since I bumped into a couple that asked me to snap pictures for them and returned the favor. Not as good as I’d want it to be but oh well. I’d feel awkward making them take too many pictures.
The trees were so high up, pictures don’t do the trees justice. It was such a majestic sight!
Off the highway where I stopped.
Driving back now and reaching Oregon:
I wished that I was in the Norcal area since it seems like there’s more there but of course I’ll come back some day, with someone hopefully! These pictures are too big…they probably won’t load haha.
